Course Information

Participants will harvest the robust handheld technology tool, the incredible voice tool, and the timesaving handwriting tool and learn how to integrate DigiTools in their classes and increase enrollment.

Using Dragon NaturallySpeaking software, course participants will experience the voice tool potential of 140 wpm with 99% accuracy. Using Microsoft Office XP and a handwriting tablet, participants will be keyboarding and mouse clicking less, talking and tapping more while saving time. The marvelous, ingenious handwriting tool will remove the traditional mouse from your desktop forever. Participants will learn the answer to the question Why would I ever want to write into my computer if I type 65 wpm (or talk 140 wpm)?

Using a handheld computer has changed the way we work and communicate. Our participants will discover the innovative ways to utilize the handheld to stimulate learning. Topics covered include integrating softskills such as problem solving, productivity, and teamwork. Websites and resources will be shared for software applications pertinent to your classes.

Each day of the five-day excursion to new teaching heights is expertly crafted to meet your needs as a business and technology educator. In addition to receiving the training on each tool, participants will create an integrated project with lesson planning and curriculum planning aligned to the State of Michigans BMMT Pathway and the National Business Education Association standards. By posting each project on the Internet, each participant will have access to twenty new activities that teach DigiTools.

This hands-on course offers both the graduate and undergraduate student opportunities to learn each DigiTool, gather teaching tips, and curriculum planning. Through dynamic integrated activities and lessons, participants will gain the skill to use and teach voice, handwriting, and palm tools.

Participants with prior experience can advanced their skills by participating in our special advanced activities.
